in collaboration with the Medical Faculty, Leipzig University

[ Deutsch ]

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

We, the Leipzig University Hospital and Leipzig University, offer a COVID-19 vaccination programme to all residents and guests - national and international - who are interested in receiving first, second or booster vaccinations in Leipzig. We hope that we can contribute to the prevention of severe disease resulting from SARS-CoV-2 virus infections. Currently, we administer vaccination shots with mRNA vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech (Comirnaty®) or Moderna (Spikevax®).

A booster vaccination can be offered 3 months after the second (Comirnaty, Spikevax) or first (COVID-19 Vaccine Janssen) shots, or 3 months after recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection. You may book your vaccination from Mo.-Fr. from 8:30 A.M. to 5:20 P.M.. Free slots are displayed after registration in the booking tool.

Who can be vaccinated?
Continuously updated information pertaining to vaccines and their use are available on the webpage of the Robert-Koch-Institute. Please obtain directions as to whether vaccination is recommended in your case here.

Vaccination of children at the age of 5-11 years is not available at this site, but offered by the University Hospital, applying the recently approved children-specific Comirnaty (Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccine preparation.

Where can you find us?
The vaccination center is located at Augustusplatz within in the city center. You can reach the hall ("Aula") of the Paulinum from the inner court of the university main building, the Leibniz Forum. A schematic drawing (Image source: Thomas Häse, Leipzig University, SUK) shows the access routes to the Leibniz Forum.

What do I have to bring along with me?
- Personal identification (passport, identity card, Aufenthaltstitel)
- Prefilled declaration of consent and medical history questionnaire forms*
- A vaccination booklet, International/European COVID-19 vaccination certificate, or other paper documentations of previous COVID-19-vaccinations and/or SARS-CoV-2 infection

*: forms in English, or in other languages

What is NOT needed?
We also want to offer a vaccination to those people who may have no or restricted access to the German healthcare system. Therefore, we are happy that the following possible restrictions do not apply to our community vaccination center:
- You don´t need a health insurance card to get vaccinated at our center.
- You don´t need an electronic vaccination certificate to get vaccinated at our center.

Can I receive a vaccination shot without booking first?
If the throughput of the vaccination centre allows for more patients to receive a shot, spontaneous vaccinations are possible. At the end of each day, remaining doses of the vaccines may be available at 5:10 P.M. (Pfizer/BioNTech) or at 5:20 P.M. (Moderna). We will try our very best to satisfy your request and inform on-site about the chances to receive a jab without long waiting times.

In case you cannot come to your booked vaccination date, we urgently ask you to cancel the booking to make the slot available to others. Unfortunately, we cannot directly generate QR codes for digital vaccination documentation. After visiting our vaccination center, you will receive the QR codes in pharmacies.

Please enter your Email address. We will send you the booking links.
